During one of my weirdness hours of just before falling asleep, I thought of a strange question. You know how people say, "I've known you for a long time"?

Now, at what point does one start saying that? What is the dividing line between "a short time" to "a long time"? Is there a somewhere in the middle time? Who came up with this vague expression anyway?
